About Kaleton Internet

What is the background and history of Kaleton?

Kaleton Internet was founded in Leeds in the North of England in mid 2003. In this start-up phase a lot of assistance was received from the Prince's Trust and also Havelock Training Ltd of Bradford for which we are very grateful. At this stage we only provided web hosting and this remains one of our core services. We soon added email accounts, domain registrations and web site design to our portfolio and quickly grew as a successful ISP.

In early 2004 we launched a range of services for people who are concerned with their privacy on the Internet. The main component of this was providing our clients with offshore hosting by running web servers in privacy havens such as Panama. Since then we have become one of the leading providers of online privacy services. We have attracted a diverse set of international clients ranging from human rights organisations to e-gold investors. All have the same desire to have their privacy protected while they go about their business. Kaleton has become known for our integrity, professionalism and trustworthiness.

In 2005 we began to provide a range of security services. This started with performing security audits of Internet servers but many other services are now available. Most recently we have started to supply assistance and equipment relating to electronic surveillance. This was started with valuable help from ISS Training Ltd of Harrogate.

In summary, over the last few years we have grown from a simple local web host to an international provider of privacy and security services. We have built up an international client base and currently serve customers in the UK, Germany, Austria, the USA, New Zealand, Russia and other countries.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards, PayPal, Western Union, cheques and bank transfers.

How do I use my email account with SMTP and POP3?

You need to set up your mail client with the following settings:

SMTP server: mail.kaleton.com
Username: you@yourdomain.com
Server requires authentication: Yes

POP3 server: mail.kaleton.com
Username: you@yourdomain.com

Please be sure to use the settings exactly as stated above. You can also use your ISP's own SMTP server to send emails if you wish (usually smtp.yourisp.com).

How do I stop spam getting to my email account?

In order to help our customers reduce the amount of spam entering their inboxes we have installed the newest version of the highly advanced SpamAssassin software on our mail server. You can read about this here.

What are the names of Kaleton Internet's DNS servers?

You will need to instruct your domain name registrar to set these as the authoritative nameservers for any domains that you intend to host here.

If I go over my monthly bandwidth limit will you suspend my web site?

No. You will be charged for bandwidth overages at £1.50 per gigabyte but your site will not be suspended/terminated. For example, if you are on our 5Gb plan and one month you use 7Gb you will be charged an extra £3 for this.

What is the path to 'this' on the servers?

How do I register a domain name for my web site?

Kaleton Internet provides registration services for a wide range of top level domain names. To order domain registration, DNS management, mail forwarding and domain forwarding services please visit our domain centre at domains.kaleton.com.
